The classics that never date
Some songs are first dances because they have been for seventy years. “At Last”, “The Way You Look Tonight” and “La Vie en Rose” still fill a room with quiet in the best way.
If your grandparents are coming, one of these will mean something to them too.
Slow, then a party
Our favourite trick: a song that starts slow and lifts halfway through, so the floor opens without anyone being asked. “Let’s Stay Together”, “September” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” all work.
Modern and personal
“From the Ground Up”, “Yellow” and “Make You Feel My Love” are the three we’re asked for most this year. Choose the one that sounds like the two of you, not the one that sounds like a wedding.
